Another album getting a lot of airtime here at Common Folk Music is The Sun Will Burn Our Eyes, which is the first solo release from Band of Annuals’ lead singer, Jay William Henderson. It’s an album with a beautifully textured soundscape consisting of acoustic guitars, organs, keys, horns, and, of course, pedal steel. Then, when the female vocals sweetly waltz in to harmonize with Henderson, it’s those inspired moments that make this album divine. Henderson has the skill to create music that captivates keeping the listener wanting more. And, it’s during each new spin of the album, the listener is able to discover lovely nuances not heard during previous plays. It’s this kind of subtly that is the true mark of a craftsman, thus making Jay William Henderson an excellent musical artisan on The Sun Will Burn Our Eyes.

Well said. The Sun Will Burn Our Eyes is one of my favorite albums of the year. Jay is a talented dude. More people need to hear his beautiful music and see him live. Here’s another example of his radness: http://vimeo.com/45173530 Cheers.
