It is no secret that Common Folk Music has been a fan of Tyler Butler since his intimate, winter opus Winter King. However, Winter King is just one of a few excellent albums from the Butler discography, the earlier release Feral Horse is fine collection, and, now, Tyler has released a spectacular EP entitled, Violence.
Violence isn’t anything like the title implies, instead it’s another intimate affair that goes well with a cup of hot cider, a blanket, and a quiet house. Tyler’s voice has this amazing ability to warm a soul and a body on those cold and lonely nights that seem to last forever and it shines among the EP’s minimalist arrangements. What amazes me most is that the stark and spacious quality of Violence still feels comfortable and personal, like Tyler is playing an intimate house show just for you. And, if intimate and personal is your thing and you’re in the Edmonton area tonight, you don’t want to miss the release show at the Rutherford House. You can get more information about the release show on Facebook.
